Gays and Lesbians was historically inhabited before the Stonewall riots lives of quiet desperation "in the closet" and openly hostile against the oppression of everyday life.

Gay community centers sprouted in most every major North American city - except for San Francisco - which until recently was so grumpy in the community could not open such a center! Gay community centers eventually became a Gay and Lesbian Center - is LGBT Centers, and soon the LGBT and P - polyamory - and centers Q - Queer.
Maybe some day, even the new, trendy METROSEXUALS join the party and the parade of sexual minorities!
The warm paradigm - formed as a result of this desire for being OPEN - often confrontational, that the larger community to a certain line, "What a strange, and here we are!" too many elements in America.
